Layered Beauty: The exhibits, from the Collection of the late Dr Hu Shih-Chang, will comprise Chinese lacquer wares from the Warring States period (475-221 BCE) to late Qing (end of 19th century), the highlights being various Ming lacquer pieces. The different techniques and artistic interpretations adopted during these two millennia will be amply illustrated by the exhibits, which will include monochromes, items with painted and/or filled-in designs, items decorated in gilt or inlaid with mother-of-pearl, as well as carved items in red, black, and polychrome. copyright Artworld.cn
